Hoop Scoop
Armstrong Falcons vs. Stillwater Ponies
Dec. 12, 2006
Tonight's Game: Look for a competitive game as the last two times these teams played they went to overtime .
Tonight's Opponent: Stillwater is led by seniors Kyle Peterson, Danny Johnson, Trent Fehlen, Andy Junker and Collin McGarry. Junior Joel Armstrong is the leading scorer and rebounder for the Ponies.
Tonight's Coach: Stillwater led by Coach Dennis Bloom has had three consecutive 20 win seasons including three straight section finals, two conference titles and a trip to the state tournament in 2005.
Season Update:

The varsity is 2-0; JV is 1-1, sophs 1-1, freshmen A 3-0 and freshman B 2-1.

Upcoming Games: We play home this Friday vs. St. Paul Harding and play next Thursday at highly ranked Lakeville South, then return home to play St. Paul Central next Friday.

Season Outlook: We have some solid experience with 4 returnees who started or play a lot last season. We also have 6 players who have little varsity experience. When this combination of players gets comfortable with each other and learns their roles well, we will have a very good team.

Hamline Connection : Stillwater has one of the best coaches in the state as an assistant; Rogar Stipple, a classmate of Coach Miller at Hamline in the early 1980's was a successful head coach at Waseca before coming to Stillwater.

Lakeville Connection : Stillwater coach Chris Engler, who played in the NBA and the NCAA tournament (U of Wyoming) is an assistant for the Ponies. He is a good friend of Coach Miller, as they taught together at Lakeville High School.

Youth Tournament : Thanks in advance for volunteering as a worker for our fundraiser this weekend. You help make our booster club one of the best in the state.
