Hoop Scoop
Armstrong Falcons vs. Moundsview Mustangs
Feb. 23, 2007
Tonight's is Senior Night: Prior to warm-ups (immediately after the JV game) we are inviting all Falcom fans to circle the court to honor our 7 senior players and our senior manager ant the senior cheerleaders. Their names will be announced and they will jog around the court to receive well earned gratitude from their families, friends and fans.

Scott Kaitz: Scott is a great floor leader and an incredible ball handler. He is a basketball fanatic and has an upbeat and happy personality. He can shoot the ball with the best in the state and has been well tutored by his father through many years of house league, traveling team and AAU ball. He is an A student who will attend prestigious Grinnel College in Iowa; he will play hoops there as well.

Alex Rubin: Alex will be rememberes as one of the best players in the history of Armstrong Basketball. He leads our team in scoring, field gaol percentage (100 shots or more), steals, assists and rebounds. He recently passed John Bryant to become the second leading career point scorer. Alex is a humble guy who is well liked by his teammates, and he is the consummate competitor. He is an A student and will attend Illinois State University on a basketball scholarship.

Carter Biewen: Carter is a great all-around player. It seems as if he is always open to get good shots (and make them), and we don't know how he does it. Carter can defend posts and perimeter players; he is a great passer and has a deadly jump shot and a great rebounder. Carter has a steady personality and doesn't seem to get too high or too low. Carter is one of the top students at Armstrong (top 10) who is undecided as to where he will attend and play hoops next year.

Ben Vathing: Ben is a tenacious competitor who brings great energy to our team. He loves to dive on loose balls and sacrifices his body (his knees especially) for the team. He is shooting over 40% from the 3 pt. line and leads our team in free-throw percentage (82%). He is great leader and an emotional spark-plug for us. Ben is a kind and considerate person who tries to make everyone on our team fell important. Ben may attend St. Johns next season.

Antonio Johnson: "Tony", as he calls himself has been a great teammate. He has kept a great attitude despite not getting the playing time he would like. He is long and athletic and can bring energy into a game. He had a reat game vs. Wayzata in our victory on Tuesday. Tony has many tattoos that show his pride in himself and hsi family. He is one of the nicest people yoy could meet. Tony plans on attending Anoka Ramsey Community College next year.

Ben Bratland: Ben "the X-Factor" ( or just factor) is an extremely intelligent player who will make a great coach one day, if he decides to go into the profession. He is a good all-around player who can pass, rebound, defend and has a nice shot. He is shooting over 70% for the season, and has accepted his role of spot duty. He has started games, played a lot, and at other times not so much. This is a difficult role, but he has excelled at it and been the ultimate team player. Ben has a great sense of humor and loves to correct Coach Miller's mistakes whenever possible. Ben is planning on attending St. Johns in Collegeville next year.

Tom Kerr: Tom has progressed much since his days on Coach Easley's sophomore team. He has matured into a fine young man and has improved his work habits to the point where I consider him a very hard worker. He can block shots, rebound and make some big shots in the paint for us. He has a nice touch and his best basketball is ahead of him. Tom is the team jokester and loves to laugh. He has handled adversity this season in a dignified manner and has dedicated this season to his father. Tom is planning on attending MCTC next season.

Special thanks: To the parents of these fine young men, we say thank you! You have raised them to be great people.
